Alicja Kokosińska is a young set designer who collaborated with art direction students of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw and the National Film School in Łódź. She started as a stage designer assistant for B. Brtitten’s opera The Rape of Lucretia and, together with Natalia Kozłowska and Julia Skrzynecka, she worked on G. F. Händel’s Orlando at the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

In 2014, she began a two years collaboration with the theatrical group Pożar w Burdelu for whom she has designed staging for 11 performances with a number of theatres in Warsaw, including: Teatr WARSawy, Teatr Studio, Teatr Polski, Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Koneser Cultural Center and Open’er Festival in Gdynia.

In 2015 she designed the set for theater piece Ruchele is getting married at the Jewish Theater in Warsaw. In 2016 she made her debut at the Krakow Opera with G. Donizetti’s masterpiece Don Pasquale. In 2018 Alicja Kokosińska debuted at the Polish Royal Opera, with stage design and costumes for B. Britten’s The Little Sweep. Amongst artists engagements in the 2018/2019 season is stage and costume design for a premiere production of J. Massenet’s opera Thaïs at the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk.

Although designing for the opera is the main focus of her work, the artist also practices canvas painting, photography and costume design. She is a graduate of Stage Design faculty of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
